Heat and party in Basilicata

We just came back from our 4-day trip to one of the most unspoilt and undiscovered regions of Italy - Basilicata. Great landscape, fantastic food and wonderful people. Everybody seems to be completely at ease.
The old city and the houses are made of stones (partly in caves) which makes the atmosphere at night really emotional, as everything turns yellow with the street lights... Dining was really good, with fresh fish from the seaside and exceptional herbs from the mountains.. After few boiling days at the beach and in the countryside we were also in there for the local festival where a brown-hair marry is celebrated... better celebrated during the day and taken down to pieces at night as the tradition is to bring home a piece of wooden carriage the madonna is carried on!!! We would have also been brave enough to go for a piece, but it didn't make it to the square where we were waiting for ... in the end we had a great weekend and we look forward to go back !!!!

.. I think the guys would have never dared to jump in with the locals to fight for a piece of wood ;-) Better like that , otherwise we had to care about two wounded warriors !!
